I'm rather excited I was able to join up with this K-A-L. I have been wanting to make this shawl forever. I am on the search for the perfect yarn as you read this...any suggestions? I'm thinking maybe something from knitpicks...Shadow maybe...

I hope to make two this year. One just to make and one for a Krystmas gift for my grandmother.

Wish me luck...

I'm using handpaintedyarn.com laceweight - it's working out really well - don't know how much I'll need so I bought 2 skeins to be on the safe side.
Can't wait to see what you choose!

I'm using KnitPicks Shadow, and like the way it's working up. If I were to do it again, I'd possibly pick something silkier, but as a first major lace project Shadow is great. (Especially price-wise.) (Not sure if this is your 1st Major Lace, but it's mine.)

i have had really bad luck with knitpicks alpaca cloud......itwas really dirty when i washed it..this was not excess dye..and the yarn was the sunshine color...a very light yellow...the water i soaked a small knitti\ed piece in was dark brown....as a spinner this is alarming to me....what is this?????????//i will have to explain that in the 70s i was visited by some government people who confiscated some camel hair i had been spinning.....all the yarn.....and the woven pieces from it.......seems some guy in california died of anthrax and it was traced to this camel hair....so i may be overly cautious..........also, the mystery dirt aside.......this alpaca was very inferior when compared to suri elegance..........the gloss i have looks like it has been spun from floor sweepings............very short fibers as far as i can tell.........the ucarus shawl is gogeoous in suri alpaca...
