Update.
Thanks to Socherry and Nicole, I paused in my grand plan to break between charts one and two. Sometimes, just throwing an idea out there causes one to reflect a moment, and not dash off in a wild goose chase.
Icarus will be completed as written. This resource has saved me hours of grief, I'm sure of it.
Chart two is nearly complete, and I hope to post a photo in the next day or two.

I haven't actually joined this KAL yet, although I have started my Icarus, and just wanted to pass on this bit of math I did:
Completing the pattern as written means the shawl is 1/2 done after finishing Chart 1, so if you've used more than 1/2 your yarn by that point, you're in trouble. However, if you've used much less than 1/2, you may be able to add another repeat.
